Finding and Applying for NIH Grants

Course Description: The "Finding and Applying for NIH Grants" course is designed to provide individuals with an overview of the entire NIH Grants lifecycle, from finding NIH grants, applying for NIH grants and managing grants post-award.

This course is tailored to novice grant writers and fundraisers as well as experienced grant writers and fundraisers who are looking for insight into the NIH grants process.

Novice grants writers and fundraisers will gain a full understanding of where to find NIH grants, the different types of NIH grants, how to apply for NIH grants and the review lifecycle. Experienced grant writers and fundraisers will gain additional insight into the grants review and approval process and how to increase the likelihood that their grants submission will receive the most favorable review possible.

"Finding and Applying for NIH Grants" is a web-based course that will provide opportunities for individuals to learn about NIH grants without having to travel to a specific on-site grants seminar or conference to gain this knowledge. Source documents and web pages will be linked within the course content for additional reference.

A 35 question, multiple choice quiz is provided at the end of the course to assess the individual's knowledge of the course material. Scores will be generated at the end of the quiz and the score, along with a pass/fail notice, will appear to the individual once the quiz is completed. A CFRE Tracking Form will be provided at the end of the quiz. Students have the option to order a certificate for $15 (electronic version) or $20 (print version).

Full participation in "Finding and Applying for NIH Grants" is applicable for 3.5 points in Category 1.B – Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification. This course can also be used as continuing professional education hours towards recertification for the Certified in Volunteer Administration (CVA) and the Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS-AHA) credentials.

Course Description: The ”Nonprofit Management” course is designed to provide you with an overview on how to establish and operate a nonprofit organization. Topics includes: Introduction to nonprofit organizations, volunteer management, human resources management, nonprofit law, fundraising, strategic planning, financial management, program planning and management, marketing, public relations and communications. This course contains vocabulary, exercises and case studies that will help you to understand basic elements of nonprofit organizational management.

A multiple choice quiz is provided at the end of the course to assess your knowledge of the course material. Grantsmanship Basics

Course Description: The “Grantsmanship Basic” course is designed to provide you with an overview of the entire grants process, from understanding donors, grant writing, finding grants on the web, grant budget development and tracking, grant review and evaluation and managing grants. This course contains vocabulary, key points, exercises and case studies that will help you to understand many keys to successful grant writing and management.

A multiple choice quiz is provided at the end of the course to assess your knowledge of the course material. Scores will be generated at the end of the quiz and the score, along with a pass/fail notice, will appear once the quiz is completed. A CFRE Tracking Form will be provided at the end of the quiz.
